It was 10 years ago today that more than 2 million people in the coastal areas of Florida were evacuated and millions of others hunkered down to ride out Hurricane Charley. For some, things were the same as before the hurricane, while many others weren't as lucky. Many weren't prepared to deal with what Hurricane Charley had in store for them, and to make matters worse, right before the storm was to hit, it was not only upgraded from an expected category 3 hurricane to a category 4, but it also changed course. While those in cities like Tampa were prepared as the hurricane was expected to make landfall in their area, others in different areas took minimal precautions as they were expecting nothing more than a little rain and wind.
