It's a big day for those in Estero, Florida. As of December 31, 2014, it will become The Villages of Estero, making it the ninth municipality in southwest Florida and the fifth in Lee County. They have a population of 25,112 that increases to about 37,000+ due to seasonal vacationers, which means there's always plenty of real estate for sale in the Villages of Estero. The area is going to be split in 7 different districts.

In charge of building the budget will be a seven member council with a Village Manager holding the primary leadership role. There will also be a Village Attorney and a Village Clerk. A Mayor and a Vice Mayor will be elected from their membership. While the mayor earns $9,000, each council member earns $6,000.

Estero Floroda Real Estate, Estero Florida Homes for Sale

On May 12, 2014, Governor Rick Scott signed the HB 1373 measure, which allows the opportunity for Estero, Florida to become incorporated. The state Senate passed the bill last week in a vote of 40-0. Now, what's next is for residents to take a vote about whether or not they want to incorporate their town and have it be known as the Village of Estero or leave it as is. However, the 21,133 registered voters will have to wait until November 4 to vote. If it's approved, their town will be known as the Village of Estero as of December 31. The residents of Estero have been well-informed on the pros and cons of the matter thanks to more than 10 community meetings.
