Marco Island Marriott gets approval for expansion

Located on South Collier Boulevard, the Marriott Hotel in Marco Island, Florida, also known as the Marco Island Golf Resort and Spa, has gotten the green light for their expansion project despite some who say the project is a bad idea. The project was approved with a 4-2 vote; one council member was absent as he was on vacation out of the country. The Marriott expansion (Marco Eagle) issue was such a popular and controversial one that all the council chamber seats were filled for the meeting, as were extra seating provided in the lobby and community room. Some were forced to stand and watch the proceedings on a television.
