Margaritaville Coming Soon to Fort Myers Beach, Florida

While many come to Fort Myers Beach to enjoy boating, the beach and other outdoor adventures, others come in search of plenty of other activities and venues to experience and explore. From Fort Myers Beach entertainment to dining on Fort Myers Beach, you’re sure to find plenty to enjoy when it comes to this part of Southwest Florida.

Margaritaville Fort Myers Beach, Mexican Food, Fort Myers BeachWhile there are a number of existing places to check out on Fort Myers Beach already, there’s also something new headed to the region. It’s won’t be open for at least a couple of more years, but it’s already gaining a lot of interest from those who own Fort Myers Beach homes and condos, as well as those considering making a visit to Fort Myers Beach in the future.

Margaritaville Beach Resort plans to bring in around 250 hotel rooms and suites, shops, restaurants and beach access to the north end. As the project pushes ahead, it’s also promising some big changes to this part of Fort Myers Beach.

While some of the existing Fort Myers Beach entertainment, dining and shopping options are certainly unique, the new Margaritaville Resort project means redevelopment can finally proceed in the mostly blighted commercial section of northern Fort Myers Beach. It’s a problem that’s plagued the area for years. While places like Downtown Fort Myers and even Downtown Naples have seen their own redevelopment in recent years, the north end of Fort Myers Beach has been mostly left out of the mix.

That could soon change. Current plans suggest crews constructing the new Margaritaville Fort Myers Beach resort could begin work on the new project in just months. The developer, TPI Hospitality, plans to tear down some of the existing buildings in the area to make way for the new Margaritaville Fort Myers Beach resort. Demolition and construction could begin as soon as April 2021.

Once the property is cleared, it will likely take at least two years to construct the new resort and open it up to locals and visitors. The land for the new Margaritaville Beach Resort sits close to the base of Matanzas Pass Bridge. Some local proponents see the new project as a way to drive more tourism to Fort Myers Beach.

Existing renderings on the project’s Facebook site show colorful, low-rise structures, surrounded by tall palm trees and landscaping. They also show some outdoor dining tables and fire pits on the property. The renderings show evidence of some private balconies, a large swimming pool complex overlooking the beach with lounge chairs, and some dining locations that are sure to give off a beachy, island vibe.

Originally announced by developers a couple of years ago and approved by the Fort Myers Beach Town Council unanimously, the entire project has since then been tied up in the courts. A lawsuit previously questioned the need for so many hotel rooms and asked for the number to be reduced.

A few months ago, however, that all changed, and it’s now full speed ahead for the new project. The Margaritaville Resort comes as a time Fort Myers Beach is also welcoming several other major projects, some on which sit on the north end.

Plans currently exist to update Times Square and Bayside Park. At the heart of the downtown area, Times Square is already the place to go for outdoor dining, shopping and more on Fort Myers Beach. Just adjacent from the Fort Myers Beach Pier and just over the Matanzas Pass Bridge, Times Square improvements include bringing in new infrastructure and signage. Close to the bridge and fronting Estero Bay, Bayside Park is in line for some improvements itself.

Busy Estero Boulevard is also seeing some improvements, as well as welcoming in some new infrastructure to help with drainage in the future. While new projects and improvements are headed to Fort Myers Beach, that’s certainly not to say there aren’t already some great options available.

Most of the nightlife on Fort Myers Beach revolves around tourists and is oftentimes more low-key than what you’d commonly find in other places in the region. Even so, when it comes to Fort Myers Beach entertainment, expect to often find live music on tap, as well as cold drinks and fresh seafood. Look for some venues that have views over the water and quickly fill up with indoor and outdoor seating possibilities. It’s even possible for people to sometimes boat right up to certain venues on Fort Myers Beach.

Dining on Fort Myers Beach is an adventure, as well, and you’ll find several great options already exist. If you’re a fan of waterfront dining, you’re certainly in good company. You’ll find some fun choices right on the water’s edge. Whether you’re searching for a place to find a quick bite to eat, a scrumptious dinner or even a late-night snack, you’ll find some great options to kick back and relax on Fort Myers Beach. From fresh seafood to beach bars, fine dining to family dining on the waterfront, there’s a little bit of everything on the menu in Fort Myers Beach.

Of course, Fort Myers Beach also simply attracts people in search of fun in the sun, and you’ll find no shortage of options in that department, either. It’s the kind of place to spend your days out on the water boating, fishing or on a private cruise. You can also grab a kayak and start exploring some of the region or take a tour of the area on two wheels.

Annual events also draw in the crowds to Fort Myers Beach, including the American Sand Sculpting Championship. Noted as the nation’s largest sand sculpting competition, it’s a fun event for those of all ages. There’s also the annual Christmas Boat Parade, the annual Shrimp Festival Parade and the chance to watch powerboat racing with the annual Roar Offshore.

Now with the new Margaritaville Beach Resort headed to Fort Myers Beach, it’s just one more reason to consider purchasing one of the available Fort Myers Beach homes or one of the delightful condos on Fort Myers Beach.
